Above is a trailer of a film called 'Paranormal Acitivity' which is regarded as one of the scariest certificated '15' films ever made. The film itself was not advertised much as insted of placing posters everywhere and advertisements, they decided to let it become well known via word of mouth as this is usually the best way to get the public discussing the film.
There are several techniques which are used in this trailer. One technique that is used with great effect is the lighting. The lighting all of the way through the film trailer is extremly dim and this adds effect making the viewer feel more tense and therefore becoming frightened. This is a technique which is used with many horror film trailers as their main aim is to scare the audience.

The way in which the words 'paranormal' and 'activity' are not parralel when the title appears on screen shows that something is unusual and not quite right. This is a perfect example of what the film is all about. It is little features such as this which make audiences want to go and watch the actual film as the trailer has given them a little idea of what to expect.
